eth1.jpg (56436 bytes) Ethiopia - Pond Construction

This tree stood out for obvious reasons, It had been left at least at this point as laborers slowly excavated earth by hand for a reservoir.

Upwards of 5,000 people were put to work (per reservoir) hand excavating earth and building earth dams to impound water, a precious commodity in drought stricken Ethiopia.

I don't know if this tree was left on its island or removed. I do know that much of the land was devoid of trees. They had been killed by starving livestock or used for fuel.
