This picture is of a Juniper tree struggling to survive
on this rocky Butte.

The orientation is looking West from a Butte on the
Haystack Ranch West of Madras in Central
Oregon.

Junipers often have a lot of character and are
survivors even under really tough conditions.

They cannot stand fire however and even moderate
burn damage kills the tree.
