The thriving community of Crooked River Ranch is situated on a high plateau with piercing canyon walls that plummet to the waters of the Crooked River on one side and the Deschutes River on the other. In 1971 the Ranch was originally established by Bill MacPherson as a recreational development. Now it has become the permanent home of over 2,000 people and a vacation home to many. The high desert locale provides a wondrous panoramic view of the Cascade Mountains and offers an abundant wildlife population for a perfect balance of nature.
Recreational activities include camping at the R.V. Park and Campground, swimming in the heated pools, fishing in the Deschutes or Crooked Rivers, hiking in the surrounding gorges and at neighboring Smith Rock Park, bicycling, boating at nearby Lake Billy Chinook, golfing on the rim of the Crooked River canyon, tennis at your leisure, and dining while overlooking the scenic golf course.
Crooked River Ranch's golf course is situated in a warm valley about 1,000 feet lower than most other area courses and was first opened in the spring of 1974, making this course one of the few in Central Oregon that is open year-round.
