The Jefferson County Commission on Children and Families is directed by Diane Treadway, and has two other staff members. The commission is a group of volunteers who act as a advisory board to the county board of commissioners in regards to services to children and their families.

Plans are now under way to develop a community center in Madras. The three-phased project includes a child care center, youth center and public swimming pool.
