
The Oregon State University/Jefferson County Extension office is located in the Old County Courthouse on D Street in downtown Madras.
The extension provides the community an easy way to access the universitys research and information on a wide range of topics.
Informal programs help to educate residents in the areas of agriculture, home economics, natural resources, leadership, economics and human development to name a few.
Information and brochures on a variety of subjects are available for people who drop by the Jefferson County Extension office.
In Madras Clint Jacks is Staff Chair. Jacks also works with range, livestock and 4-H. Marvin Butler is in charge of crops. John Beal II works with 4-H youth and provides assistance with home economics.
In Warm Springs Arlene F. Boileau is the office coordinator and works with the 4-H youth. Bob Pawelek is in charge of livestock and agriculture. Norma L. Simpson works with people on home economics and Sue Ryan is the 4-H program assistant. The Warm Springs Extension office can be reached by calling (541) 553-3238. The extension service also sponsors seminars, workshops and programs that are free to the public.

In many cases, the Extension office establishes cooperative ventures with private and public institutions, or agencies to achieve mutually agreed upon goals.
