Community Development

The Community Development Department has 12 employees in offices which include Planning Services. The mission of the department is to, "facilitate the growth and development in the Jefferson County community through coordinated programs of planning, environmental health, building safety, enforcement, education and service to the public."

BUILDING SERVICES:

The Building Official and two inspectors provide construction plan review, consultation and inspections to assure compliance with national and state building codes. There is also a plumbing inspector, and the electrical inspector is provided by the State of Oregon.

The county provides services to Jefferson County excluding the cities of Culver, Metolius and Warm Springs Reservation. They do provide plumbing inspections for Warm Springs.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

There is one Registered Sanitarian who provides site evaluations, field inspections and public health services.

PLANNING SERVICES

There are two Senior Planners who handle the County and City of Madras planning issues. Planning Services handles individual land use applications, zoning review, providing the public with information on all land use issues and reviewing building permit applications. Planning services utilizes a member of the support staff full time and another member for City Planning on an as needed basis.
