
City Police
The Madras Police department employs seven full-time patrol officers, two lieutenants, one of whom is a narcotics officer, and an office manager and assistant.
One of the departments officers serves as the Jefferson County 509-J School District resource officer.
The department has a total of seven police vehicles, including the Madras DARE Car. The departments offices are located at 71 S.E. D St.
Madras police provide law enforcement 24 hours a day, and can be reached at (541)475-2424 during regular working hours. In case of an emergency call 911.
County Sheriff
The Jefferson County Sheriff runs the sheriffs department, which provides law enforcement to all parts of Jefferson County. The sheriffs office is located at 66 SE D Street, Suite C, and can be reached at 475-6520 during regular hours.
The Sheriffs Department also operates the 18-bed county jail, located downstairs in the Jefferson County Courthouse, located at 75 SE C Street. The dispatch center, which serves all law enforcement and public safety organizations in the county, is also downstairs in the justice building.
The department has 26 full-time employees. Eight of the employees work in the Corrections Division, and six are patrol officers. Five full-time employees and one part-time employee work in the dispatch center. There is also a marine officer, and one full-time officer in animal control. The Jefferson County Sheriffs Department also teaches. DARE classes in the Culver School District.
State Police
The Madras-Jefferson County area is under the Oregon State Police District 4, which has its headquarters in Baker City. The OSP maintains an office in Madras at 527 C Street, Suite B, across Sixth street from the courthouse and sheriffs department.

District Attorney
The Jefferson County District Attorney, an elected position, is in charge of prosecuting people charged with crimes and infractions in the county.
There are two assistant district attorneys, two legal secretaries, a receptionist and a part-time clerk. The district attorneys office is on the second floor of the justice building, and can be reached at (541) 475-4452.
